HAF 912 - FAQ

  • Where and when can I buy the HAF 912?
The HAF 912 will be available wherever Cooler Master products are sold. The official launch date is the 14th of September, and at that time the HAF 912 will be available on e-tail and retail outlets. Click here for participating outlets.

  • Are there dust filters?
Yes, there are dust filters for the intakes covering the entire front, and power supply intake.

  • How does the HAF 912 stack up to comparable mid towers?
The HAF 912 is an example of how singular design affects overall performance. Rather than modifying an extant design from a 3rd party, the HAF 912 was designed from the ground up as a wider, cooler and more imposing chassis. With exclusive support for 200mm fans, unique water cooling options, modular removable hard drive bays and a rugged appearance, no ‘average’ mid tower chassis can compare. Now the HAF 912 brings the high air flow revolution to the mainstream chassis market.

  • How strong is the HAF 912?
The HAF 912 is made from 0.7mm SECC steel that is folded for extra strength. The chassis is designed to bear the load of modern components even with the modular bays fully removed. A HAF 912 is rugged and tough on the inside as well as the outsides.

  • How do I use the modular rotatable hard drive bays?
HAF 912 includes a refined modular and rotatable hard drive bay with separate 2.5" SSD drive bay. The upper cage can be removed to facilitate installation of large graphic cards like the HD Radeon 5970. The standard configuration of the bay is transversal (sideways) hard drive mounting. The cage can also be rotated to enable the user to install hard drives facing towards the front of the chassis. This method of mounting was preferred by some end users. In addition, the bottom 2.5" SSD drive cage can be removed from the bottom of the chassis and added on top of the lower drive cage. This allows SSD storage while preserving the extra clearance for large graphics cards.

  • Why isn’t the interior painted black?
While interior coating is a modern trend, it offers no improvement on airflow or cable management while adding significantly to the costs. HAF 912 follows the form of the HAF 932 and HAF 922, delivering significant value based on intelligent internal design. There is a modular interior, cable management and plenty of expansion for fans of various sizes. Based on end user feedback, a black interior will not be available on the standard HAF 912 but it may be available in differently configured HAF 912 Plus, and HAF 912 Advanced.

  • What is the best way to water‐cool in the HAF 912?
There are two ways to water‐cool the HAF 912. While a 240mm radiator can be supported inside the chassis, there may be compatibility issues depending on the motherboard component height and radiator and fan thickness. For best compatibility there are additional mounting holes for a 240mm radiator to be installed above the chassis. There is also a separate hole for radiator cables. This offers best water cooling support in its mid‐tower class.

  • How does the HAF 912 compare with the HAF series?
The HAF 912 is designed to keep as many of the features of the HAF 932 and HAF 922 at less than half their price. HAF 912 was created to fill the market need for high airflow enthusiast mid towers. The HAF 932 is a full tower, the HAF 922 is a large mid tower, and the HAF 912 is a normal sized mid tower. HAF 912 supports 200mm Megaflow fans, as well as adding new innovations like modular rotatable hard drive bays.

  • Will the HAF 912 have a side window?
The HAF 912 will have a side window available as an optional accessory and standard on the HAF 912 Advanced.

  • How can I manage cables?
The HAF 912 is 9.1" wide, an inch wider than comparable mid towers in its class. This allows for extra .61" inches behind the motherboard tray with convenient cable management cutouts. The HAF 912 is engineered to fit large cables behind the motherboard using the cable tie attachment points on the rear of the motherboard as well as a CPU retaining hole.

  • How do I install hard drives?
The hard drives use a completely tool free installation. Simply mount the hard drive rails and slide the drives into the cages. The hard drive rails have anti‐vibration rubber to reduce noise.

  • What is the maximum GPU length supported?
The HAF 912 will support a HD Radeon 5870 with the modular hard drive cage installed. With this device removed there is over 15" for video card clearance.

  • What is the maximum CPU cooler height supported?
The maximum height should be 170mm. The CPU cooler does not interfere with the side fan.

  • Is the HAF 912 an original design?
Yes, the HAF 912 is designed by Cooler Master and produced on Cooler Master tooling and specifications. Its unique size allows for more features in a smaller space.
