Introduction
 |
| | Hyper Z600R is designed for both active and passive cooling. Superior cooling performance is provided by the unique X design and 6 copper heat pipes. The Hyper Z600R is designed to cool the latest Quad-core processors even without a fan in 0dBA silent mode. In active mode, the Hyper Z600R accommodates up to 2 fans for enhanced performance in overclocking and gaming. |

Features
 | | 89W Passive Cooling Solution | | Real 0 dBA cooling solution for silent operation
We recommend that CPUs with a TDP of less than 89W to run without using additional fans
If you are running the cooler without a fan, we recommend that case fan be isntalled at the back | | | | Superior Cooling Performance | | The interlaced fins maximizes the dissipation surface to provide superior cooling performance | Unique "X" design creates lower back pressure to make air pass through heatsink quickly and guide more air pass through the heatsink | | | | | | Mirror-coated copper base and 6 heat pipes | Optimum fin space allows air pass through heat sink quickly | | | Mirror-coated copper base ensures 100% contact with the processor to maximize the heat conduction. It could draw heat from CPU to the heat pipes immediately
6 heat pipes transmit and spread heat over all the fins rapidly | | | | | Optional Fan for Advanced Cooling Performance | 120mm fan brackets are designed specifically for the performance PC enthusiast who needs huge airflow | | | | | Universal Design | - Intel Core 2 Extreme, Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Duo, etc.
- AMD Phenom, Athlon 64x2, Athlon X2, AMD Sempron, etc. | |

The
Cooler Master Hyper Z600R breaks Cooler Master out of the mold of average CPU coolers and puts them
down the path of premium greatness. This is a good direction for Cooler Master
and allows the company to manufacture and sell coolers that will follow what
the company has achieved with their premium line of cases such as the Stacker
and new ATCS 840.

To sum it all up, Cooler Master's new Hyper Z600R CPU cooler is BIG, both in
physical size and performance, yet leaves a relatively small acoustic footprint.
The included blue LED fan is a nice addition and the mounting solution is very
robust, if a bit fussy to install. It also makes a great passive cooling
solution. If maximum cooling and impressive looks are at the top of your list
when shopping for a CPU cooler, don't overlook the Hyper Z600R. Just be sure it
will fit inside your case.

As we have already seen, the Z600R is a top notch cooler capable of keeping its
own against other performance grade coolers. The Cooler is not with out its
flaws. Priced at $59.99 its not the cheapest cooler ever, although for the price
you get a lot of metal. Which is my next point. The cooler ways over 1000 grams
and with the fan attached closer to 1200 grams. Thats nearly 3 pounds!
Admittedly the cooler comes with a very sufficient back plate, but 1000 grams of
hanging metal is something that would likely concern me in my computer. The
finish on the base of the cooler isn\'t amazing either, although it wasn\'t
scatched atleast.

Quite simply, Cooler Master has once again lived up to their name.
While it didn't out right take the performance crown from the TRUE120,
we have to realize that we're right at the pinnacle of air cooling
performance. The temperatures in dual fan mode were right on the edge
of being on par with ambient. The passive cooling performance was
excellent, with its loudness even in single fan mode almost completely
silent. Frankly, it takes close listening to hear any noise from the
cooler. While the cooler is quite large, it's not any more so than the
reigning champ the TRUE 120. I had initial doubts as to whether or not
it would fit in one of the test cases, but as the below picture
illustrates, there was ample room.

The Cooler Master Hyper Z600R is the largest of any cooler I have tested to
date. To be honest here, the adage of “bigger is better” doesn’t really apply
here though. The coolers size and design is very unique to the cooler market,
but in my opinion it could have been designed just a bit better. My main concern
with this cooler is that if you plan to run the Hyper Z600R with a fan, I advise
you run a push-pull configuration. My test bed is open air, and flat on a table.
Even in this open environment, with one fan the air doesn’t seem to get through
the cooler well. While keeping the temps at bay to a certain extent, with a
simple feel test, it is easy to see the air flows out everywhere but through the
cooler.

As you can see the Cooler Master
Hyper does a fantastic job of cooling our processor, I should note that for some
reason the OCCT software did no recognize that fact that the processor was
overclocked to 2.8 GHz, instead it just registered it as being at default speed.
So let's take a look at the pros and cons of the Hyper and see what we end up
with.
PROS:
* Superb cooling when a fan is
used
* Extremely quiet even using a
fan.
* Well built/100%
aluminum
* Easy to
install If you are in the market for a
heatsink that will reduce even the hottest processor down to an acceptable
operating temperature then the Cool Master Hyper is the ideal choice for you.
One final note please don't consider taking a case with this heatsink installed
to a LAN Party unless you live at the place where it is being
held.

Its performances are very good in passive mode, and interesting in 2 X 5v. We will once again emit the same reproach, the attachment unit is really not the best with our taste. Despite everything (and especially its weight). It is undeniable that it will charm those which seek silence above all.

Cooler Master Hyper Z600 turned out a very interesting new solution. Probably the most interesting cooler of all we have tested over the last two-three months. First of all, this cooler will be of great value and interest to the owners of quiet PCs and large computer cases who do not need to squeeze all the juices out of their CPUs. As you could see from our today’s experiments, Hyper Z600 can cope easily with a new quad-core QX9650 running at 3.7GHz or old Q6600 working at 3.42GHz. But the most remarkable thing is that this is far not the maximum of the cooler’s potential.
With one or, better, two quiet fans, the modest passive Hyper Z600 turns into a deadly weapon against hot overclocked processors. And a pair of high-speed fans brings its performance up to the level of recognized leaders among contemporary air coolers. Even equipped with two high-speed fans the newcomer didn’t manage to completely catch up with ZEROtherm Nirvana NV120 Premium. However, the Nirvana in passive mode on a quad-core processor gives up at 3.45GHz already, while Hyper Z600 can do much more, as you know by now.
All in all, this solution will undoubtedly find its place in the market even despite the relatively high price of $60.

 BigBruin: Whisper Quiet

"Given the potential for the Cooler Master Z600 to perform exceptionally well with about zero noise, it earns the "Whisper Quiet" award."
"If your computer was set up on an open test bed or in a massive case with a side window, the Z600 would be an excellent choice for a low noise cooler that would get everyone's attention. It may not be flashy, but it will not be missed! Balancing the cooling performance with the potential size issues, the Z600 also earns a conditional "Recommended" award."
Pros: » Z600 is capable of keeping hot processors nice and cool » Z600 is well made and heavy duty » If bigger really was better, the Z600 would be the best » Sphere has interesting design and looks cool installed

"We were pleasantly surprised to find that Cooler Master can rightfully label the Hyper Z600 as a passive cooler, performing well on even a slightly overclocked quad core processor. Adding active cooling and excellent airflow, however, are the key to turning a well-performing passive cooler into a solution that should compete with the best tower designs on the market."
Pros:
-
-
Superior performance in an active configuration
-
Quality construction and design
-
AMD & Intel socket compatibility
-
Six heatpipe design allows for unexpectedly good socket area clearance
