Description

The highly anticipated recreation of the benchmark in LAN gamer cases, Scout 2 offers refinements on its predecessor’s design to arrive at a theme steeped in the future of combat. These refinements are bolstered by improved steel reinforced carrying handles, bolted to the core structure. Front console connections have been updated to USB 3.0 while offering protection from adverse travel conditions with hidden sliding cover. Support for current high-end hardware is greatly increased by a removable HDD cage that supports VGAs like the NVIDIA GTX 690 and AMD HD 7990, making the Scout 2 better prepared for all conditions.

"The Scout 2's smooth lines and detailed moldings make for a more modern looking case. Looks aside, Cooler Master's revamped enclosure also offers USB 3.0 ports and a slightly better internal design. "

"Bottom line, whether it is used as a LAN case or just a mid-sized desktop rig, I found the Cooler Master CM Storm Scout 2 to be a great mid sized case and the CM Storm Scout 2 has a build quality that will not disappoint!"

"The original CM Scout case I really enjoyed and the next generation, the Scout 2 does not disappoint. The Scout 2 features fall right in line with the original Scout features with updated styling and the inclusion of USB 3.0. While some may look at the fact that you lose 4 hard drive slots when a longer video card is installed, I do not. I like having the option of removing the drive bay to fit my card rather than take a substandard card to a LAN party. Giving the users the flexibility in a smaller case means that there is less weight to carry around when they are off to gaming events or LAN parties. The multiple fan locations are also a big plus, while I would have like to see the case come with one more case fan, preferably at the front, having spots for 9 fans is a nice touch. While we are on the subject of fans, I want to point out that on the side panel, the fan mounts are in the metal and not the lexan window. I personally have never liked mounting fans to the case windows, I've seen the windows crack and split because of the vibrations. Overall the case is nicely put together and designed well. Inside I didn't run into any sharp corners and all the edges were rolled to prevent nicks in wires as well as fingers."

"Taking into considering everything this case offers for the gamer, extra long video card support, carrying handle, and lighting effects it receives the "Gaming Approved" award. Looking at the case overall with the build quality, cooling options, USB 3.0 support, pricing and ease of installation the Scout 2 also receives the "High Recommended" award."

"The CM Storm Scout II mid-tower case is an updated design that thankfully does not fully abandon what made the original Scout popular among enthusiasts.  A suite of well rounded features on a foundation of top notch build quality is appealing to anyone with a semblance of taste.  Optical drives are slowly disappearing from desktop rigs so Cooler Master has done away with having five 5.25” drive bays inside the Scout and only opted for three. This should be more than enough for anyone as this provides at least one bay for an optical drive and two more for any front panel device such as a fan controller. "

"Comfortable rubber carrying handles with steel reinforcements that are bolted to the core structure ensure that no matter how good your configuration is, they'll be there to support the weight and ensure a swift transition between battlegrounds.

Scout 2 goes beyond these and brings an ultramodern rifle appeal that elevates its abilities up to the pinnacle of support for its size. With that, users may build with confidence knowing that Scout 2 supports up to three 5.25" bay devices, seven hard drives, two SSDs, and even NVIDIA GTX 690 or AMD HD 7990 through an easily removable hard drive cage."
