      Modders-inc - Must Have : June 2013

"Don’t let the size of the headset fool you, while it is large it is also light weight and unintrusive while wearing it. Performance of the Cooler Master Sonuz is very good. All frequencies are very well represented. Using a tone generator, I was able to cleanly reproduce down to 60 Hz. Typically small drivers have issues with clean reproduction of bass. Highs and the mid-range are outstanding with the Sonuz and extremely crisp and clean. Vocal ranges are easily distinguished and not muddled with the music. During gaming sound was represented very well."

"I’ll confess I was a little surprised—bigger numbers (or bigger drivers—53mm) don’t often translate to real-world (or even noticeable) performance improvements. But the Sonuz headset sounded good—even cranked to uncomfortable levels in Borderlands 2 I couldn’t detect any distortion.

The Sonuz seems to offer a good balance of big bass and clarity at even the highest volume levels. All in all, I was not disappointed."

"The ability to swap what side the mic is on makes it even more flexible to accommodate different preferences.  The punch from the 53mm drivers is great and you can go for long sessions without having to take this headset off.  We are happy to recommend the CM Storm Sonuz as a great headset for your consideration."

      » Details Bronze : October 2012

"The CM Storm Sonuz is a 2.0 stereo headset with great sound and powerful bass, suitable to those on a budget or users who don’t care about having a 5.1 surround sound model."

      » Details : September 2012

"The CM Storm Sonuz delivered an immersive experience for gaming and movies, and music sounded great! My only complaint about the headset was that it was fairly bulky, enough that you just might be too aware of it being on top of your head. However it was still very comfortable so if you're not the sort to feel awkward wearing such a large headset, you should enjoy the CM Storm Sonuz!"

      » Details Editors Choice : August 2012

"Overall, CM Storm’s gaming headset line provides a decent spectrum of choice for all kinds of gaming enthusiasts, from competitive e-athletes to casual weekend LAN partiers.  The CM Storm Sirus 5.1 is head and shoulders above the rest, not just in features and performance but in price as well.  It is extremely comfortable to wear and I could say with confidence that it is the most comfortable headset I have ever used. The comfortable fit alone makes it worth half the price.  The CM Storm Sonuz also provides excellent audio quality even without the software enhancements and conveniences of the Sirus 5.1.  Lastly, the latest addition to the CM Storm family: the CM Storm Ceres 400 lacks the excellent build quality and premium aesthetics of the Sirus and Sonuz headsets but takes a no-frills approach and provides a well-rounded alternative to essential gaming audio needs."

      » Details Approved : August 2012

"This set is top notch. These Cooler Master headphones sound great. If it wasn’t for the fact that I’ve gotten used to surround sound in a headset, these would be my go-to set. Despite the one true negative (voices in movies), this headset far outweighs that in all other areas."

      » Details Good Buy : August 2012

"For the price you pay and the features you get out of the Storm Sonuz Headset I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking in the middle price range for a true gaming headset. Yes there are headsets out there that will give you more power but for this price range it’s hard to beat the Cooler Master Storm Sonuz Headset no matter who the competition is."

      » Details Great Value : August 2012

"To sum things up, the Sonuz is designed for the general gaming audience by providing them with a good balance between movies, music and gaming performance. This is in contrast to their previous Cooler Masters CM Sirus, which was designed to target gamers who already own a high quality pair of headphones and were looking for a true 5.1 surround experience. When you look at average headsets and the size of the drivers they offer, you see numbers in the 30mm to 40mm sizes. The CM Sonuz has 53mm drivers which give you much more depth of range, and clarity at every level. I was very impressed at the performance of the CM Sonuz both with music and gaming as well. As headsets go, if you’re in the market for a set of headphones that are light-weight and comfortable to wear, and at a price point that won’t break the bank, the CM Sonuz are a good fit."

      OCC: Bronze : August 2012

"Overall I don't have too many complaints about the CM Storm Sonuz headset. The sound quality is pretty good for a gaming headset but it is by no means audiophile grade. They feel well-built and the adjustability of the microphone is perfect. The short length of the wires requires you to either plug them into the front of your computer or use an extension cable, which is something I'd like to have seen included with the headset from the start. The inline volume and microphone control came in very handy and didn't exhibit any odd behavior or noises when adjusting."

      » Details 10/10 : August 2012

"Our review of Sonuz showed that you do not need to spend 300$ on a pair of earphones to get great sound. Whether you are playing video games of just listening to music while coding a new web site, you need a headset that would work without a hick ups and give you that smooth performance day in day out. Sonuz has all of those features. Being stylish and giving 0 problems to users this particular model is a no brainier. What about the price range? We are looking at 70 to 90 USD$ bracket here and Sonuz being priced at 69.99(at the time of the review) really makes a good candidate for any gamer or just a general user. Sonuz's performance in this price range is truly unbelievable as we felt that you would not be disappointed with this product. Our experience with Sonuz has been nothing short of fabulous and we would like to award it a solid, 10/10! Great product and great way to save users some money!"

Techgage: Editors Choice : August 2012

"Considering Cooler Master's asking price of around $69.99 at the time of writing, it's very clear that the company has another hit in their CM Storm's growing audio product line. That's significantly cheaper than most serious gamer headsets, and a steal compared to even just an entry-level audiophile-approved set of cans. Combined with its performance characteristics and its very good ergonomics once the user has lived with it for a couple of days, the CM Storm Sonuz should be, for some people, the preferred choice over a surround sound headset."

      » Details Gold : July 2012

"Overall the CM Storm Sonuz is a sizeable headset that is flexible in function, not simply limited to gaming but multimedia use as well.  The inline remote and detachable microphone makes it very convenient to use while in front of the computer or attached to a mobile device listening to music.  The build quality is also excellent as we have come to expect from a CM Storm product equipped with anti-fray braided cables as well as gold-plated connectors for durability, reliability and portability."

      » Details Recommended Product : July 2012

"For a mid-range analog gaming headset, CM Storm Sonuz performs very well. The headset drivers respond to a wide frequency range, with sharp high's and rumbling low's. Middle bands test to stand out, which bodes well for voice communication but can be overpowering with some music. The microphone head has openings on the front and rear, allowing it to pick-up voice input even if when poorly aimed at the source. "

» Details Silver Key Award : July 2012

"The $70 CMStorm Sonuz have a lot going for them. We found that they were able to produce some amazing in game audio as well as reproduce most movie and video sounds with excellent quality. "

» Details KICKASS Gamemans Choice : July 2012

"The Cooler Master CM Storm Sonuz Gaming Headset has major bang for the buck. It has great build quality, stylish, comes with large comfy earpads, 53mm drivers, flexible headband, removable/repositionable quality mic, affordable and a 2 meter braided cable with in-line volume controls."

      » Details Silent 4 of 5 : July 2012

"Overall I found the Storm Sonuz to be comfortable due to the fabric wrapped foam pads and ear cups.  I do like the over ear design and am not bothered by the lack of sound isolation.  The lightweight design and special curved headband allows the headset to remain in place even when looking up and down.  Due to how the drivers are attached to the headband the speakers move in any direction but in doing so has made the Sonuz wider than you would expect."

      » Details : July 2012

"The Sonuz does in fact live up to its advertising hype; what’s more, it’s an extremely well-designed product in almost every conceivable way. Whether it was comfort, gaming performance, or sound performance, the Sonuz scored high marks in all of the vigorous tests that I put it through."

      » Details 8/10 : July 2012

"The CM Storm Sonuze is a dependable headset for those looking to buy something that is not overly expensive while not being too cheap. The durability of this headset will ensure it last a long time. The durability and sound is good, if not great and the omni-directional microphone provides for some flexibility while having heated discussions online. This is a great buy for anyone looking to upgrade his or her headset."

» Details Bang for Buck Award : July 2012

"The CM Storm surprised me on several fronts, and I am not easily surprised these days. Not only do the massive 53mm drivers provide excellent bass, they also are able to reproduce highs quite well and mids reasonably well."

      » Details 9/10 : July 2012

"There’s no denying that Cooler Master has created a solid headset. Oversized 53mm drivers, detachable mic, and gold plated 3.5mm headphone plugs provide the versatility to work on many devices. It is almost a perfect headset."

» Details Silver Silicon Award : July 2012

"So pretty much the CM Storm Sonuz overall is a pretty darn good mid level headset performance wise. It preforms well when gaming, and is darn (we use that word way too much. Darn it. Doh! Did it again.) good when listening to music, and watching movies."

» Details Crowned Product Award : July 2012

"The fact that the Sonuz is great for music and movies adds a dash of extra appeal in versatility, and the removable microphone which can be positioned on either side is a great selling point.  The $70 price tag warrants a serious look at the Sonuz, as it surpassed our expectations in sound performance, and if the lack of dedicated software doesn't bother you, the CM Storm Sonuz will be another solid peripheral from the reputable case, cooling, and power supply manufacturer who is making a persistent and confident expansion into the peripheral universe."

      » Details Best Value : July 2012

"I like what CM Storm did with the Sonuz functionally. The plan was to offer the consumer a ‘basic’ gaming headset at a good price. They did that and did it well.

The music as well as gaming playback was way in the range of what I would call excellent. When it came to music I was really pleased as I am big fan of various forms of music but my real passion is old school hip-hop which a lot of the time produces a lot of bass. The Sonuz was able to reproduce the higher range of the low notes better than that of the Sirus. This pretty much has to do with the larger driver."

» Details Silver Awesome Award : July 2012

"Whereas the Sirus is more of a niche product designed for gamers with already a high quality pair of headphones looking to get some true 5.1 surround sound, the Sonuz is more of a product designed for the general gaming audience providing a great balance of gaming, movie and music performance.

Those who enjoy tons and tons of bass, be sure to take a good hard look at this one. There isn’t a single headset on the market under $100 that will provide you as much bass as what the Sonuz will."
